Breathe Easier in the Cold
The Talvi Air Gaiter uses a heat-exchanger to warm and humidify the air you breathe in, so cold, dry winter air doesn't slow you down on your run, bike, hike or ski. It's a cold air breathing gaiter built for people who don't want winter air to dictate their pace.
How It Works
As you exhale, the insert captures the warmth and moisture in your breath. That stored warmth preheats the next breath you take in, taking the edge off frigid air before it reaches your lungs. Compared to a standard cloth gaiter or balaclava, the Talvi Air has 10x lower breathing resistance so you can keep your effort up without feeling like you're breathing through fabric.
Who It's For
Runners, skiers, snowshoers, and anyone who spends time outside in cold temperatures and notices cold air affecting their breathing; whether that's a mild irritation on cold days or something you manage more carefully, like cold induced asthma or sensitivity from COPD. It's also a practical upgrade for anyone who just wants to train through a Minnesota winter without cold air slowing them down.
One Size, Better Fit
The updated Talvi Air 2.0 is more comfortable, stays in place better, and fits one-size-fits-all If you're unsure how it'll fit, we're happy to help with a return or exchange on unused products.

FAQ
Can I run or exercise while wearing it?
Yes! it's designed for it. The heat exchanger insert has 10x lower breathing resistance than a standard cloth gaiter, so it won't leave you feeling winded or restricted during activity.
Is it good for people with COPD or other lung sensitivities?
Many people with cold-air sensitivity find it helpful for taking the edge off frigid air before it reaches their lungs. As with any respiratory concern, it's worth checking with your healthcare provider on what's right for your specific situation.
How is this different from a regular gaiter or balaclava?
A cloth gaiter or balaclava traps some warmth, but the Talvi Air actively captures the heat and moisture from your exhaled breath and uses it to pre-warm your next inhale — that's the heat exchanger doing the work, not just fabric coverage.
What size should I get?
The Talvi Air 2.0 is one-size-fits-all. If you have an older two-size version in mind: M/L positions the mouthpiece slightly lower for longer face lengths.
Wash the fabric gaiter in cold water on the gentle cycle and air dry. Hand wash the breathing insert in warm, soapy water and air dry.
What's it made of?
80% recycled polyester, 20% lycra.
Where is it made?
Designed by a pulmonologist and manufactured in Minnesota.
Does the Talvi Air help with cold-induced asthma?
The Talvi Air's heat exchanger warms and humidifies the air you breathe in, which can make cold, dry air feel less harsh on sensitive airways. If you manage a diagnosed respiratory condition, we recommend talking with your doctor about whether it fits into your routine.
